There are moments in a brand's journey that go beyond business. Moments that make you pause and feel an immense sense of pride in what you have built, what you represent, and the heritage you carry forward.

For SAN-CHA Tea Boutique, being selected once again as a State Gift of India is one such moment.

At the current BRICS Summit in New Delhi, SAN-CHA Tea has had the extraordinary honour of having its Darjeeling Afternoon Tea selected as a State Gift—giving us the privilege of representing one of India's finest teas on an international stage.

For us, this is much more than a tea being presented as a gift.

It is a celebration of India's tea heritage, craftsmanship and the exceptional quality of Darjeeling tea.

Our Master Tea Taster, Sanjay Kapur, carefully evaluating teas at SAN-CHA.

A Tea Chosen to Represent India

When a tea is chosen to represent India at an international summit, every detail matters.

The tea itself must be exceptional. Its provenance must be unmistakably Indian. And the way it is presented must reflect the elegance and heritage of the product within.

For this special State Gift, our Master Tea Taster, Sanjay Kapur, personally selected a particularly fine batch of Darjeeling tea.

At SAN-CHA, tea selection has always been an intensely personal process. Our Master Tea Taster evaluates teas based on their aroma, appearance, character, liquor and finish before deciding which batches are worthy of carrying the SAN-CHA name.

For the BRICS State Gift, this meticulous process took on an even greater significance.

We wanted to select a Darjeeling tea that would truly reflect the elegance and individuality for which the region is celebrated.

The Distinctive Character of Darjeeling

Darjeeling tea occupies a special place in India's tea heritage.

Grown in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal, Darjeeling teas are renowned around the world for their distinctive character, delicate aroma and celebrated muscatel notes.

Our Darjeeling Afternoon Tea is an elegant expression of this iconic Indian tea. It has a refined, aromatic character with sweet muscatel notes and a delicate floral quality, making it a tea appreciated by both everyday tea drinkers and discerning connoisseurs.

For SAN-CHA, Darjeeling represents something particularly important.

It represents India's ability to produce teas of extraordinary character and international distinction.

And having this tea chosen as a State Gift made the occasion all the more special.

From the Tea Taster's Table to the BRICS State Gift

Once the tea had been selected, the next stage was to prepare it for its journey.

The carefully chosen Darjeeling tea was packed in SAN-CHA's biodegradable pyramid tea bags made from plant-based corn fibre.

The pyramid design gives the tea leaves room to expand during brewing, allowing the tea to release its aroma and flavour while offering the convenience of a tea bag.

For us, the packaging was an important part of the story too.

A State Gift should represent not only the heritage of India but also the innovation and craftsmanship of modern India.

Crafted with Care at the SAN-CHA Factory

The selected tea then made its way through our production and packaging process.

Every step was carried out with the same attention to detail that goes into preparing our teas for our customers around the world.

The Darjeeling tea was packed into our biodegradable pyramid tea bags before being prepared for its final presentation.

A Tin Made Especially for the Occasion

The finished tea bags were then placed inside a specially personalised SAN-CHA Tea Boutique tin caddy bearing the BRICS India 2026 logo.

Our iconic tea caddy format is designed to protect tea from moisture, heat and surrounding odours, helping preserve the quality of the tea inside.

But this particular tin carried an additional significance.

It was created specifically for the BRICS occasion and transformed an exceptional Indian tea into a keepsake representing the country.

A State Gift with a Story

A State Gift is never simply an object.

It carries a story about the country from which it comes.

In this case, that story begins in the Darjeeling hills, where the tea is grown, and continues through the hands and expertise of those who select, taste, blend, pack and present it.

The journey of this particular tea brought together several elements that we believe beautifully represent contemporary India:

India's tea heritage.
Indian craftsmanship.
Artisanal expertise.
Sustainable innovation.
And thoughtful design.

From the tea gardens of Darjeeling to our tea tasting room, from our factory to New Delhi, every stage of the journey was an expression of our passion for Indian tea.

From India, With Pride

For SAN-CHA Tea Boutique, this is an especially proud moment.

Our story has always been rooted in India's tea heritage. Since 1981, we have dedicated ourselves to discovering, selecting and presenting exceptional teas to tea lovers in India and around the world.

To have one of our teas selected once again as a State Gift of India is an honour that we hold very close to our hearts.

It is a recognition not only of this particular Darjeeling tea, but of the craftsmanship, expertise and passion that go into every SAN-CHA tea.

And perhaps most importantly, it gives us the privilege of sharing a small but beautiful part of India with the world.

A Proud Moment for SAN-CHA

For us, this is not simply about being selected for an international summit.

It is about what the selection represents.

It represents our continued commitment to Indian tea, exceptional quality and artisanal craftsmanship.

It represents the belief that a great tea can tell the story of its land, its people and its heritage.

And it represents the privilege of being able to share India's finest teas with the world.

From the Darjeeling hills to New Delhi, and from our Master Tea Taster's tasting table to an international gathering of nations, this particular tea has travelled a remarkable journey.

We are deeply honoured that SAN-CHA Tea Boutique's Darjeeling Afternoon Tea was selected as a State Gift of India for the BRICS Summit.

For a tea brand rooted in India's tea heritage, there could be few greater compliments.

From India, with pride.
From Darjeeling, with distinction.
From SAN-CHA, with passion.
